Canon’s Answer to Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Systems

For some time photography enthusiasts wondered what Canon and Nikon’s response would be to the mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras that have become ever so abundant and increasingly popular. Looks like all of that uncertainty is finally over as these two behemoth companies have finally shown their hands.

Nikon’s response a couple of months ago was the J1 and V1, but they decided to package a relatively small sensor into the camera, leading to some critical reviews that the camera was catered toward regular consumers.

Canon’s recently D1X is an interesting announcement in that it looks like its current G series camera, but they decided to pack a giant sensor into the body. Pros: expect great image quality. Cons: you’re stuck with the lens on the unit. Add in 4.5fps continuous shooting, ISO100-12,800, optical viewfinder, manual controls, and it’s basically the functional equivalent of a base SLR with a permanent kit lens (28-112mm, f/2.8-5.8). Should make for a pretty killer fanny pack camera for those who don’t feel like lugging around the DSLR.

Rendering synthetic objects and animations

Check out some of the upcoming technology in software that’s being developed to realistically add synthetic objects and animations into existing photographs/still scenes. Friendly enough for the average user, but sophisticated enough in realism to pull it off.

We’re not just about floral artistry anymore. These days we tend to be busy with our daily routines, but when time permits we do all sorts of interesting, and some not-so-interesting things, from photography, traveling, tech consulting, gallivanting, culinary indulgence, to being socially awkward butterflies and more. This makes us quite busy indeed, and that leaves us with hardly enough downtime to organize and clean up our messes and aftermaths. Never too busy for a little laughter though. Here’s one for you and a fair warning to remember to keep your archives tidy!

Sandy and John were married on Saturday, August 23, 2008.

They had their ceremony at Cathedral Basilica of Saint Joseph in San Jose and their reception at The Decathlon Club in Santa Clara.

Sandy & John Wedding in San Jose, California

Sandy and John were married on Saturday, August 23, 2008.

They had their ceremony at Cathedral Basilica of Saint Joseph in San Jose and their reception at The Decathlon Club in Santa Clara.

The Decathlon Club is where Sandy went for her junior prom…what really tops the story is that some of her friends who went to prom with her were there for the reception.

We were fortunate to be part of their lives, to watch their love grow from friends, to husband and wife; a great team…undeniably two glowing peas in a pod.

In the meantime, check out the incredible work of Sandy and John’s wedding photographer, Jerry Yoon (and Ingrid). Their engagement shots in Napa Valley came out gorgeous…I mean, h-o-t. I can’t wait to see Jerry and Ingrid’s dreamy captures from the wedding day…in 3-4 more weeks.

Elisa & Darwin Wedding in Oakland, California

A beautiful wedding day it was!

The ceremony was held at one of Oakland’s historic architectural churches – St. James Episcopal Church. The stained glass windows were breathtaking. Judging the church from the exterior you can easily miss the beauty of stained glass windows. The exterior windows had a tinge of cloudiness which appeared to be covered with an opaque plexi. Once you’re inside of the church you begin appreciating the historic architecture in the wood floors, pews, and how the stained glass lets in light.

Elisa and Darwin, a super cool and down to earth couple, celebrated their unity at the All Saints Episcopal Church in Oakland for their reception with family and friends. A very fun crowd of guests who knows how to get down and boogie on the dance floor.

One of the sweetest wedding ceremonies that I have been to; you can just see how happy everyone was for Elisa and Darwin on their special day, so many family and friends contributing to the logistics of the day to help with ensuring the day would run smoothly, and all at the same time, remembering to have fun!

A very sweet couple, indeed…All the best, Elisa & Darwin!
